Our definition of sustainability goes beyond ensuring our needs and those of future generations: it focuses on regeneration and the complexity of relationships.
The acronym ESG (environmental, social and governance) helps simplify :
We act in the face of the climate emergency by investing in renewable energies (production and storage) and energy efficiency (water and air heating) and by collecting rainwater. We promote biodiversity, with various habitats adapted to the local climate (hedges, forested areas with endemic species, a natural swimming pool and an abundance of plants that provide food or shelter for insects and birds) and that promote balance in our agro-ecosystem and organic production.
We separate and measure all waste and compost organic waste, returning the carbon and food we take from it to the land. We contribute to the health of the air, water and soil in and around the farm.
We manage our business model by reinforcing labour and human rights in everything we do. We contribute to healthy lifestyles by promoting conscious eating and a culture of well-being.
We are an environmental education centre, welcoming children and adults of all ages throughout the year to share the theory and practice of sustainable development in all its aspects.
We promote a culture of collaboration, community, justice and responsible consumption to build resilience in the face of the social crises we are going through.
We promote participatory processes and a horizontal structure in our management. We are flexible with those who are part of the team (family) but very demanding with our operations, suppliers and value chain, analysing and reviewing the upstream and downstream impacts of our activity.
We are committed to decisions with medium and long-term returns, which make it easier to track and and transparency of the choices we make and their alignment with our purpose.
Nature and human reality are complex, made up of many interconnected and interdependent parts, like an organism that is always greater than the sum of its individual parts. This systemic thinking guides what sustainability means here:
the responsible transition to a regenerative and just economy.
In sustainability, this “motto” of corporate managers is central to our operations in all areas. What is recorded points out clear and objective paths, helping to make decisions, establish realistic goals and have in-depth knowledge of the impacts of our activities. We haven’t discovered the perfect formula for measuring happiness yet, but we’re working on it – it’s one of the most important indicators around here! While we still measure smiles and songs as a proxy for happiness, there are other indicators that we have already mastered. Here are some of the numbers that give us a “photograph” of our consumption:
